Carey and Amber

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” (Albert Einstein)

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

The story of Amber and Carey is really quite simple. We attended the same high school, were even in marching band together, lived around the corner from each other…..yet never officially met until 12 years later. Ironic – we know. It wasn’t until after working together in the same veterinary clinic that we found common ground in our love of animals, common sense, food and the 60’s (especially The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix & Hippie culture). In time, I grew to share an appreciation for photography, a long time passion of Amber’s.

We began going on “photo adventures” together – basically day trips that were local, inexpensive/free and offered photographic opportunities that would often end in us having a late lunch at our favorite Vegan restaurant. Unfortunately, these happy little adventures were cut short, due to my husband receiving a job in a different state – 830 miles away to be exact.

On a recent and extremely quick trip back home, Amber gave me a book entitled A Year of Mornings by Maria Alexandra Vettese and Stephanie Congdon Barnes. It is a collection of photographs taken by two women who shared their lives through everyday images, while living 3,191 miles apart. Thus, the idea for our blog was born. With the pressing demands of the day-to-day and the distance between us, what better way for us to communicate than through photos that create an emotion in us? The world is our muse and now, the window to our soul.

**All the pictures on this blog are personally photographed by either Amber or myself, unless otherwise indicated.

Enjoy!
